Procurement-fit structures
Project and contracting structures suited to the host, procurement pathway, financing requirements and operating model.
Circular infrastructure developer-investor
Proven solutions exist. We make deployment work.
Sustainalutions originates, de-risks and develops the projects that make this happen, turning difficult waste streams into valuable products. Our current focus is wastewater sludge and biosolids across Africa.
We bring proven technologies, local partners, finance and offtake together within one accountable project structure.
What we build
Sustainalutions is building a broader waste-beneficiation platform, beginning where the need, evidence and project pipeline are strongest.
Depending on the opportunity, we may develop an integrated treatment facility, upgrade existing municipal infrastructure, establish a regional beneficiation centre or structure a downstream biosolids-to-product pathway.
We develop projects that improve sludge treatment, plant capacity, stability and beneficial use. Solutions may combine thermal hydrolysis, anaerobic digestion, dewatering, drying, energy recovery and other technologies selected for the site.
We develop downstream pathways that convert suitable biosolids into stable agricultural products through drying, granulation, blending, toll processing or structured offtake.
Over time, the platform can expand into imported sludge, industrial organics, co-digestion and regional waste-beneficiation centres.
What each party gets
Reduced disposal pressure, improved compliance, additional treatment capacity and long-term operational accountability.
Locally produced energy, agricultural products and other valuable outputs.
Ring-fenced projects with defined feedstock, revenue, performance, delivery and operating responsibilities.
What we solve
Municipalities and industries frequently face waste streams that are costly to manage, difficult to permit and poorly served by existing disposal pathways.
Proven solutions exist, but projects stall when procurement, evidence, finance, approvals and offtake are not developed together.
Project and contracting structures suited to the host, procurement pathway, financing requirements and operating model.
Realistic treatment fees, clearly allocated risk, defined performance regimes and credible product or energy offtake.
Stage-gated capital combining suitable debt, equity, export credit and development-finance support.
Independent, university-linked testing and site-specific evidence, rather than relying only on international reference projects.
Early alignment of permitting, environmental approvals, procurement requirements and institutional responsibilities.
Local engineers, contractors, universities, operators and stakeholders embedded from the start.
How we work
Sustainalutions acts as the developer-integrator, coordinating the specialist partners and commercial workstreams required to move a project from concept to operation.
Identify high-friction waste and infrastructure problems where proven solutions can create measurable economic and environmental value.
Characterise the waste stream, test solution pathways and resolve the critical technical and commercial uncertainties.
Build the commercial and contractual structure, define feedstock and offtake, and align procurement, approvals and financing requirements.
Contract and coordinate the OEM, engineering, EPC and financing parties under clear performance obligations.
Coordinate KPI-backed operations and continuous optimisation to protect asset performance and project cash flows.
Evidence and traction
Sustainalutions is developing its first projects through local evidence, institutional partnerships and proven technology pathways.
Sustainalutions is sponsoring a UKZN-led sludge-characterisation and transformation programme with eThekwini Water & Sanitation. Using a laboratory-scale Cambi thermal hydrolysis unit, the programme is testing local sludge and generating evidence to inform commercial-scale deployment.
Beyond eThekwini, Sustainalutions is developing opportunities across municipal wastewater, sludge beneficiation, regional infrastructure and industrial resource-recovery contexts in South Africa.
Sustainalutions brings together specialist technology, engineering, research, finance and offtake partners within one coordinated project-development platform.
Performance and product outcomes depend on feedstock quality, the baseline treatment process and system configuration. Sustainalutions validates project claims using site-specific data.

Delivery partner ecosystem
Sustainalutions brings specialist partners onto one coordinated delivery platform, allowing each party to contribute its core capability without having to become the project developer.
Proven technology, equipment supply, commissioning, training and performance guarantees.
Local and international engineering, EPC, operations and maintenance capability.
Development finance, commercial lenders, strategic equity, energy offtake and product-market pathways.
Where we work
South African founded and anchored, with local research, engineering and delivery partnerships. We prove the model where our evidence, relationships and delivery capability are strongest, while selectively developing opportunities in adjacent African and Middle Eastern markets.
Development stages reflect active work and engagement, not awarded projects or contractual commitments.
Who we are
Leads strategy, project structuring, capital engagement and international partnerships. Background in venture building and investment.
Leads South African relationships, stakeholder engagement and on-the-ground business development from Cape Town.
